Nambour
Nambour – is regarded as the “hub of the hinterland”. Its name is derived from the Aboriginal word “naamba” which refers to a red-flowering tea tree. Until recently, Nambour was one of Queensland’s major sugar towns and even today the sugar railway line runs down the middle of the main street. The legendary Big Pineapple, a true Australian landmark and major attraction is conveniently positioned close to Nambour. The Big Pineapple is both enjoyable and educational offering many features such as the Plantation Train Tour, the Nutmobile and the Animal Nursery. Regarded as a challenging course, Nambour Golf Club is set in a beautiful valley with pockets of lush rainforest and impressive views. Nambour is also the gateway to the Hinterland and is in close proximity to the expansive views and rainforest walks of the Blackall Range region and beyond.
