Sunrise Weather comes to Mooloolaba

On Friday morning, 27th March, Channel 7's Sunrise Breakfast show weather presenter, Fifi Box and her crew came to broadcast live from Mooloolaba Beach. It was a brilliant lead in to the ITU's Mooloolaba Triathlon, which kicks off tonight. After an early start, due to daylight savings in the southern states, the set up out the front of the Mooloolaba Surf Club went off!

We had a brilliant turn out, with Grant Kenny doing a bit of taste testing of some local seafood, Darren Mercer and his Nippers crew for getting up so early and heading out into the water for some action shots, and Sandy and the gang from UnderWater World for bringing the shark tank along (my heart rate is still high after my "holding a shark" experience!). There were lots of local surf club members there to help out with our "rent a crowd" shots, and the Sunrise crew said that it was one of the easiest and least stressed live cross segments that they've ever had to do.

Many thanks to Vicky Brown of Browns of Mooloolaba and her team including Carol and Tony, for their spectacular seafood display and breakfast BBQ. It was like having fish and chips at the beach with human seagulls! There's no doubt that the Mooloolaba Prawn got a good workout today!

Also, a huge thankyou to our newest member, Alison Sibley and her team at Radiant Beauty, for putting the two Mooloolaba Tri champions, Emma Snowsill and Emma Moffat, almost completely to sleep! They certainly looked like they could've stayed there all day.

Thank you to Di Ainworth, Tourism Sunshine Coast and the Sunshine Coast Regional Council for putting the morning together. It's a fantastic achievement for the Sunshine Coast, and was a brilliant opportunity for Mooloolaba to be shown in it's best light. These types of opportunities don't come up very often, and it was inspiring to see so many people providing assistance at VERY short notice to make this the successful morning that it was. Mooloolaba, we should be very proud!
